The Department of Labour says an amount of R25 million had been paid to Gqeberha taxi drivers following verification by the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
A team of officials arrived in the Metro on Monday to help resolve the payment impasse which led to several days of violent protests by drivers.
In a statement on Thursday, the Department of Labour says the UIF confirmed receiving ID copies from 5 963 drivers and TERS payments were made to 5 757 claimants.
However, Department spokesperson, Musa Zondi, says some identity numbers submitted by individual taxi drivers for verification, could not be found on the Covid TERS online system.
Follow up meetings, facilitated by Executive mayor, Nqaba Bhanga, have been scheduled.
Six taxi drivers were arrested during the strike and released on bail of R500 each.
As part of their bail conditions, they are not allowed to take part in any protest action and must be back in court on the 16th of July.
Commuters were left stranded during the violent protests which saw several Algoa buses and truck destroyed.
