The Mdantsane Police are investigating a case of murder following the fatal shooting of a 44-year-old taxi owner in NU16 on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Mluleki Mbi identified the man as Xolani Baliso.
Mbi says it is alleged that the deceased was parking his vehicle at his neighbour’s house when he was approached by an unknown gunman.
Baliso was shot in the upper body whilst still in his vehicle and he died on his way to hospital.
Mbi asked anybody with information to come forward.
Meanwhile Willowvale police in the Eastern Cape arrested a 25-year-old suspect on Thursday in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old man.
Police Spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said both the suspect and the deceased attended a traditional ceremony when a quarrel broke out in Rhaladiya Location, Chafutweni village.
The suspect allegedly drew his knife and stabbed the victim in the chest, before fleeing on foot.
The 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
