Mthatha police are searching for two unknown suspects who stabbed, shot and killed a 48-year old Ncedo Taxi Association official on Wednesday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills says the incident happened at the Taxi Association's offices in Eagle Street.
She says it is alleged that the deceased was in the office together with other staff, when two unknown men entered and went straight to the deceased. He was first attacked with a knife before another man produced a firearm.
The suspect fired several shots at the victim without uttering a word.
The two assailants fled the scene and five 9mm spent cartridges were collected from the scene.
A case of murder has been opened.
Mills says although the deceased was involved in the taxi industry, it is at this stage premature to link his murder to taxi violence.
