Uitenhage police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who shot and killed a 57-year-old taxi driver on Friday evening.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said the victim was travelling from North End in Port Elizabeth towards Despatch when he stopped on the R75 to drop off some passengers.
She said as they were exiting the taxi two men inside the vehicle fired several shots at the driver who died on the scene.
Swart said the gunmen fled in the direction of Joe Slovo informal settlement and remain at large.
The motive for the murder is not yet known.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station.
