Police in Gqeberha are investigating two unrelated cases of culpable homicide that took place in the last 24-hours.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the first accident happened on the M4 freeway close to the Sidon Road off-ramp on Sunday afternoon.
She says a taxi was travelling in the direction of Humewood when the driver lost control, colliding first with a VW Golf and then with an Opel Astra.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the Astra spun out of control and hit a lamp post before it overturned.
The 48-year-old Debbie Botha, who was a passenger in the Opel, died on the scene.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the taxi driver stopped 900 m away from the scene where he got out of his vehicle and jumped from the bridge.
She says it is alleged that he was trying to flee the scene and broke his leg in the process.
The second accident took place at 1.30 am on Monday morning when a white Amarok collided with the pillar of a footbridge on the N2 near Westering.
The 35-year-old driver died at the scene.
His name is being withheld as his next of kin is yet to be informed.
