Port Elizabeth police have established a task team to deal with a recent spike in crime in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Police captain Johan Rheeder says the task team is made up of detectives who are already probing several cases.
This week, three men smashed the glass display at an arms dealer and stole several firearms.
Last week, several suspects also smashed the display at a coin dealer in Greenacres shopping centre and fled with Mandela Coins and Kruger Rands, valued at around R1.5m.
