Task team to probe Hawks break- in

The Hawks said no dockets were stolen during a brazen break-in at its offices in Silverton, Pretoria.

Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, was quoted as saying that they became aware of the burglary in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He said it could have occurred overnight.

Mulaudzi said they focused mostly on the HR, finance and supply chain Departments, stealing computers containing confidential information.

"We are not sure whether we are dealing with a syndicate or a common criminal but the fact of the matter is that we take this matter very seriously. These computers that were taken come from the support environment. What is critical is that the HR ones are carrying the members profiles so a team has been assembled to investigate this matter and we are hoping we will have a break through as soon as possible" he said.

Brigadier Mulaudzi said what's important is that no case dockets were taken during the burglary.

" What is also critical is that to alley fear that maybe there are dockets that might have been stolen. No, we can confirm that there were no dockets stolen hence we are saying that we view this matter in a very serious light. We really want to condemn those who are responsible," he added.
