A police task team from Port Elizabeth has been dispatched to Cradock to help probe the murder of a local woman.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Elmarie van Eck, says the body of 51-year-old Hettie Philps was found in the bathroom of her Aalwyn Street home.
She had been tied up and the house ransacked.
Van Eck says Philps was found by a relative who went to the house when she did not show up for work at an old age home on Tuesday morning.
She says a post-mortem will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
No arrests have yet been made.
