A 29-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Fort Beaufort Magistrates Court on Tuesday following his arrest for his alleged involvement in housebreaking and arson.
Police spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni says the suspect was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly stole several firearms from a farmhouse before setting it alight.
He says a 72-hour activation plan was launched which led to the arrest on Sunday.
An unconfirmed number of firearms were allegedly stolen from the safe during the ordeal.
Captain Tonjeni says they responded to a report of housebreaking in the early hours of Sunday morning but when police arrived at the scene the house was engulfed in flames.
Nobody was injured as the homeowner was away at the time.
Captain Tonjeni says more arrests are imminent.
The name of the suspect in custody may only be identified once he has appeared in court.
