Buses torched by rural communities in Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe has condemned the torching” of buses that the provincial government provided as a safer and cheaper transport option to several rural communities.

She says the latest attack on buses operated by the government-supported AB350 company, happened at Engcobo on Friday night.

The MEC says this brought to ten the number of buses to be torched in over three months, costing millions of Rands.

Tikana-Gxothiwe says she will be meeting company officials to discuss ways of safeguarding the remaining fleet.
