Eastern Cape police have established a task team to track down the suspects who stole “an unconfirmed number of firearms” and set fire to a farmhouse in the Fort Beaufort area.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khayan Tonjeni, said the 72-hour reaction plan was activated after police received a call at around 02:30 on Sunday about a house-breaking.
He said when officers arrived on the scene, they found the house engulfed in flames. The owner was away at the time of the incident.
Tonjeni also said that an unconfirmed number of firearms were allegedly stolen from the safe.
He has appealed to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to contact the investigating officer, Kholeka Mbambeni, on 082 388 9344 or to call their nearest police station.
