The quick action of an off-duty Port Elizabeth policeman has led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two stolen firearms.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the 37-year-old Constable was visiting friends in Schauderville on Tuesday night when he heard shots being fired in Glendenning Street.
He immediately responded and arrested a 25-year-old man in the yard of a block of flats.
A 9 mm pistol reported stolen last July was recovered.
Colonel Naidu said police members who responded to the policeman's call for back-up also arrested a 26-year-old man in Lawler Street and recovered a pistol reported stolen in Swartkops in November.
Both men will appear in court on Friday.
