Two suspects have been remanded in custody following their appearance in the Laingsburg Magistrate’s court in connection with a R1 million drugs bust.
Police seized the drugs at a checkpoint on the N1 at Laingsburg in the early hours of Monday morning.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, says members stopped a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi that was en route to Cape Town from Qumbu in the Eastern Cape and found 54 bags of dagga inside the vehicle and in the trailer, it was towing.
Sergeant Spies says they confiscated 536 kg of dagga worth close on a million rand and arrested the 33-year-old driver and his 30-year-old passenger.
The two men, who are both from Cape Town, will be back in court on the 18th of November for a formal bail application.
