Three housebreaking suspects are expected to make their first appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court Monday, following their arrest on Friday.Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says they allegedly broke into a house in Newton Park between July and September while the home owner was overseas.She says on his return last week, he found that the house was completely empty.The furniture taken was antique, while three vehicles were also stolen.
Naidu says the estimated value of the entire contents including the vehicles was about R500 000.
She says detectives from Mount Road police station received information on Thursday, and arrested a 21-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man in Kamma Park, while a third suspect - a 29-year old - was arrested in Sidwell.
Naidu says they've established that since the theft, two of the vehicles, an Opel Monza and a Kadett have already been chopped up and sold as scrap metal.
A VW Golf is still missing.
Police are appealing to second hand dealerships to contact them if they have bought any antique furniture in the last three months.
