Suspects on the run following armed robbery in Port Elizabeth

Several shots were fired during an armed robbery at Boxer Stores and Boxer Liquors in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth, on Thursday afternoon.

Police constable Mncedi Mbombo says five men, all wielding firearms, hit the shopping complex in Njoli Road at around 4pm.

Mbombo says the suspects fired several shots inside Boxer Stores and ordered everyone to lie down before taking money from two cashiers who were busy on the tills.

They then moved next door to the liquor store and took several bottles of liquor before fleeing on foot.

No one was injured and police are still searching for the perpetrators.
