Suspects on the run after two armed robberies in PE

Port Elizabeth police are on a manhunt for more than ten suspects, following two armed robberies in the metro yesterday.

Spokesperson, Col Pricilla Naidu says on Saturday morning just before 8 o'clock, staff arrived at a casino in Pier 14 in North End, and as one of them entered the premises, three unknown men forced their way in.

She says the staff members were threatened with two firearms.

Naidu says a substantial amount of cash was taken and the men fled in a grey bakkie.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

In the second incident, a clothing store in Durban Road, Korsten was robbed - allegedly by about 10 armed men just after it opened at 9 am on Saturday.

Col Naidu says according to police information, the men entered, and took the staff to the back of the store and ordered them to lie on the floor.

She says the safe was opened and a substantial amount of money was taken.

On their way out, the suspects also took clothing off the rails.

They fled in a Toyota Quantum.

No one was injured.
