Two suspects will appear in the East London Magistrates Court on Monday after they were found in possession of cables belonging to both Transnet and the Buffalo City Metro (BCM).
Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says police were patrolling Nahoon Beach on Friday to follow up on several complaints of beachgoers and surfers, being robbed.
She says while patrolling the Reef, police discovered a cave with blankets and knew that people were living there.
Police searched the caves where they found 35kg of Transnet cables as well as 120kg of overhead cables belonging to BCM.
The suspects aged 23 and 40 were arrested and will appear in court on Monday.
