Quick response by police into the disappearance of a 20-year-old Knysna man led to the arrest of six suspects on charges of kidnapping and extortion.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, said that the father of the victim was contacted telephonically at around 6 pm on Saturday by a person who threatened him and demanded an amount of cash for his son’s release.
He said the father immediately alerted the police.
Spies said investigators received information which led them to a house in Concordia at around 10 pm, where they found the victim on the floor with his hands and feet tied with rope.
Six people, aged between 20 and 29, were arrested in the house.
“They will appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ Court on Monday,” he said.
No further details were provided and Spies said the investigation into the incident was still continuing.
