Five suspects, facing charges of vehicle hijacking and kidnapping, appeared in the Cofimvaba Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Khaya Tonjeni says their court appearance follows after the five, two women and three men, were arrested in Johannesburg by Cofimvaba police on Friday.
This was a collaborative effort between the Eastern Cape detectives, Provincial Intelligence and detectives from Johannesburg.
Tonjeni says two vehicles were hijacked in separate incidents in Lady Frere in December and Cofimvaba in January, both were recovered during the operation.
The case was postponed to 03 February 2015 for formal bail application.
