RDP houses in Mdantsane vandalised and stripped bare

 Eastern Cape Human Settlements MEC, Helen Sauls-August has strongly condemned the vandalising of RDP houses in Mdantsane in East London.

She says building material, including windows, doors and bathroom fittings have been reported stolen in completed houses in unit P.

Her spokesperson, Lwandile Sicwetsha says Departmental officials visited the site and found a number of units vandalized.

He says its a set-back and a waste of limited resources.


"There are no funds to replace the already damaged material. The MEC is urging people to use the appropriate channels and if they are unhappy with service delivery to not destroy other people's property. Those houses belong to beneficiaries who wanted to occupy upon completion" he said
