Three men appeared in court in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape on Monday for an arson attack on the O R Tambo Garden of Remembrance.
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Celiwe Binta, says the three, aged between 20 and 51, were arrested on Friday.
She says they will be remanded in custody until the third of November when they're expected to make a formal bail application.
They face charges of arson for allegedly torching two rondavels at the heritage site in Nkantolo Village.
The motive for the incident is not yet known.
