Suspects arrested stealing booze of truck in Chalumna pass

East London police have arrested two suspects who allegedly stole R50 000 worth of booze from a truck travelling through the Chalumna Pass.
Police captain Steven Marais, says the culprits apparently jumped onto the truck and tampered with the air-brakes causing them to lock and the vehicle to overturn.
The truck was then looted by members of the local community.
Marais says two people face charges of malicious damage to property and theft while a a 58-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to free the men from a police vehicle.
