Two people from Gauteng have appeared in court in East London for allegedly defrauding clothing retail stores in the area.
Police spokesperson, Mluleki Mbi, says police were alerted to the 33-year-old man and his 35-year-old female accomplice who were allegedly using documents which did not belong to them to open accounts at the stores.
He says they were arrested while they were about to board a bus at the East London station.
Captain Mbi says police seized identity documents belonging to other people as well as items of clothing.
The pair have been charged with fraud and will be back in court again on the 30th of October.
