A 30-year-old suspected robber will appear in court on Monday on a murder charge for the stabbing of a Despatch man over the weekend.
Thirty eight year old Rocco Swanepoel was stabbed to death at his home in Despatch, near Port Elizabeth in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei says police were responding to a complaint in the industrial area of Despatch just before 1o'clock, when they heard a woman screaming.
They rushed to her aid, and when she opened the gate the two policemen caught a man trying to escape over a garden wall.
The woman told the police her husband had just been stabbed, and they arrested the suspect.
Seekoei says she told police that her family members were asleep when she woke to find a man in the couple's bedroom, and the suspect stabbed her husband several times in the upper body. He died at the scene.
He says police are looking for another man, suspected of involvement in the crime.
