A suspected abalone poacher is expected to make his first appearance in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Christopher Spies says members from the Rural Flying Squad conducted patrols on the N2 on Thursday afternoon when they were alerted of possible poaching activities near The Crags, just outside Plett.
He says they responded to the area with rangers from SANParks and arrested a man with 29 units of abalone in his possession.
The 35-year-old suspect, from Kleinmond in the Overberg area, is facing a charge of possession of abalone.
