Port Elizabeth police have arrested a suspect for the attempted murder of a taxi driver on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the arrest was made on Sunday, a day after shots were fired at the taxi driver in Bethelsdorp.
The driver was alone in his taxi at the time and was not injured in the incident.
Naidu says he drove straight to the nearest police station to report the matter as he knew the identity of the suspect.
She says police recovered a firearm and six rounds of ammunition.
Naidu says the 39-year-old suspect will appear in court soon to face charges of attempted murder.
The ownership of the gun confiscated from the suspect must still be established.
