Police have arrested a 32-year-old man following the brutal murder of a mother and her two-year-old daughter in Stilbaai in the Western Cape.
Spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the bodies of Annemique Manho and her baby Almique, were found on Monday by her husband and son, who's in Grade 3.
He said the 32-year old mother was found on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds, whilst the body of the little girl was found in a bath of water.
"Both already succumbed to injuries sustained. An autopsy will be performed to determine the possible cause and time of death."
Poje said SAPS members worked throughout the night and apprehended the suspect who is a local resident.
He said the motive for the double murder is not yet known and the suspect will appear in court soon.
The Executive Mayor of the Hessequa Municipality, Grant Riddles, expressed his deepest condolences to the Manho family.
