A 34-year-old man is due to appear in court in Bloemfontein this week after being arrested with a large number of Sassa and Postbank cards.
Police said he was arrested on Friday during an intelligence-driven operation in the city.
A spokesperson said when the man spotted the police, he dropped a bag and fled, but was soon arrested.
Upon further investigation, the SASSA office in Bloemfontein confirmed that the cards belonged to their offices.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the cards were linked to a business robbery case where four unknown suspects forced entry at a Post
Office in Bainsvlei and stole seven boxes containing 14 000 cards before fleeing the scene.
