Popular Bay funeral home damaged in fire

A fire caused extensive damage to a well-known Gqeberha funeral home on Sunday.

Municipal fire officials responded to the fire at Shweme and Shweme in Zwide.

Municipal spokesperson, Kupido Baron, says it’s believed the fire originated in a storage facility for coffins.

But he says the mortal remains kept in cold storage were removed.

He says fire-fighters brought the blaze under control, but the building was extensively damaged.
