A 20- year old suspect arrested for the alleged rape of a 6-year old child, has been denied bail in the Kirkwood Magistrates court.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart, says the child had allegedly been raped over a period of time in the Addo area, with the last incident occurring last month.
His case was postponed to the 8th of April.
In a separate matter, Kirkwood residents held a protest outside the court calling for bail to be denied to two men charged with sexual assault and robbery.
Algoa FM News understands that one of the men has a pending rape case and was out on bail in that matter when he allegedly committed the other offences.
The two will be back in court again on the 18th of March for the continuation of their bail application.
