A 28-year-old man who was charged with impersonating a police officer was re-arrested shortly after being granted bail in the Moutse Magistrate's Court in the Limpopo Province on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, says Thomas Magane was initially arrested on the 28th of December after being found in possession of a police uniform, a firearm, ammunition, grenades, handcuffs, and a bulletproof vest.
Mojapelo says he appeared in court on Thursday where he was granted bail of R 4 000, however, as soon as this happened, he was re-arrested after it was established that the firearm seized in December was police issued firearm stolen in Mpumalanga earlier.
Magane will be back in court again on the 23rd of February where he will face several charges including impersonating a police officer and resisting arrest.
Mojapelo says they are still investigating how Magane managed to acquire police equipment and a uniform.
