Cradock police say a 22-year-old man is due to appear in court on Thursday in connection with the brutal murder of a six-year-old boy.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Louis Stone, says police received critical information which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Earlier, it was reported that the body of the boy had been found in the backyard of a house in Lingelihle.
Stone said he had been playing in a field with other children when they were approached by an unknown person offering them food.
The boy sustained several stab wounds to the back.
