Grahamstown police have arrested a hitch-hiker with thousands of mandrax-tablets valued at R240-000 stashed in his backpack.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, says the 28-year-old suspect was apprehended at a road block on the N2 outside the city.
Govender says he had 3000 tablets in parcels in his backpack while hitch-hiking from Port Elizabeth.
He is in custody, pending his first court appearance.
