Police have opened an inquest docket after a Pretoria man was killed in a jet-ski accident on the Southern Cape coast.
NSRI Port Elizabeth deputy station commander Justin Erasmus witnessed the accident while on holiday at Eerste River, between Oyster Bay and Plettenberg Bay.
He said the 53 year old Pretoria man launched a jet-ski from the beach in relatively calm sea conditions on Sunday afternoon.
The man negotiated a wave but on the second wave's approach it appeared that the jet-ski launched into the air and when it landed it struck the victim on the head.
Erasmus said he and his friends recovered the man from the scene and performed CPR to no avail.
