A 29-year-old Port Elizabeth man is due to appear in court this week for a gruesome double murder in the city's Northern areas.
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning following the murders of 79-year-old Catherine Stofberg and 55-year-old Kenneth Morar.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says their bodies were found by police in a house in Salsoneville after police were alerted.
She said they had sustained wounds to the head.
Meanwhile, Janse Van Rensburg, says police in the Mount Road cluster arrested more than 100 people over the weekend for various crimes.
She said these ranged from murder to attempted murder, robbery and house-breaking.
Janse Van Rensburg says all the suspects will appear in court on Monday.
