A 57-year-old man from Wilderness is expected to appear in the local Magistrates Court on Tuesday following his arrest for murder.
Spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the man was arrested on a farm at Rondevlei Road after the body of a 50-year-old man was found by family members in his bedroom on Sunday.
He says it is alleged that the victim was assaulted with a spade and died on the scene.
The suspect was arrested soon after and charged with murder.
Brigadier Potelwa says a post mortem will be conducted this week to determine the victim's exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, police in the Eden district arrested three suspects on Saturday for their alleged involvement in a deadly assault in Thembalethu last week.
Potelwa says the men aged between 22 and 27 were allegedly part of a group who assaulted a 47-year-old man in Asazani street.
He says the victim was stabbed in the head and found dead in the street.
The suspects are expected to appear in the George Magistrates Court soon.
