A 25-year-old man has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of an off-duty police official in Motherwell, in Gqberha (Port Elizabeth).
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge, says 45-year-old Sergeant Andile Simke, was found lying in his yard with multiple stab wounds to the upper body before 4 am last Wednesday.
He was later rushed to hospital where he died on Friday.
Beetge says it believed that a quarrel occurred between friends on the night of the murder which led to the fatal stabbing.
He says the suspect was arrested on Sunday and will appear in the Motherwell Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
