Gqeberha police have arrested a suspect for the deadly arson attack in Blikkiesdorp in Kariega which left two people, including a three-year-old child, dead.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the 32-year-old man was arrested in Rocklands on Monday night following good teamwork between different SAPS units.
Four people escaped the inferno but 30-year-old Misumzi Tee and three-year-old Azabeluncedo Madikane, perished when they were unable to escape the flames.
Naidu says the suspect will appear in court in Kariega soon on charges of murder, attempted murder and arson, following the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Six people were in the house when it was set alight.
The motive is yet to be established.
Naidu says the suspect is also expected to appear in court at St Alban's prison on an unrelated charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
