A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the double murder of nine-year-old Jacorine Vaaltyn and 10-year-old Sharon Arries in Albertinia.
The bodies of the girls were found in a house belonging to the suspect on Thursday evening.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says the bodies were found after the two girls were reported missing earlier in the afternoon.
He says the body of one victim was found under a bed and the other in a blue plastic drum.
According to a post-mortem that was conducted on the bodies in George on Friday, the girls died due to suffocation.
Pojie says members from the Mossel Bay Dog Unit arrested the suspect in a rural area near Albertinia.
He faces two charges of murder and will make his first court appearance in the Riversdale Magistrates Cout on Monday.
