The Bitou Municipality has closed all beaches in Plettenberg Bay following a fatal shark attack.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says the incident happened at Central Beach on Sunday morning.
He says the police and the NSRI were informed of a shark attack just before 8 am and a rescue craft was launched.
On arrival at the scene, they found the body of a 39-year-old woman from Cape Town.
Lambinon says police have opened an inquest docket.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
