Police in Gqeberha have made a significant breakthrough in Thursday's murder of a security guard in the streets of Kwanobuhle.
Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says two suspects, aged 20 and 34 were arrested in the early hours of Friday morning in Humansdorp and Kwanobuhle respectively.
She says a 22-year-old guard who was escorting a bread truck in Gqabi Street was killed when an armed suspect started firing at him.
The victim, who has since been identified as Christopher George from Arcadia, returned fire and was killed in the crossfire.
A third suspect was injured during the shootout and died from his injuries in the hospital.
The two men in custody will make their first court appearance on Monday.
