Eight young women and three men have been arrested on charges of public violence following a protest between Butterworth and centane.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, says King Hintsa TVET College students from the Theko and Macibe campuses blockaded the R409 road with burning tyres.
They also pelted passing vehicles with stones, before members of the Public Order Police quelled the unrest and brought the situation under control.
Tonjeni says the eleven suspects are being detained at the Centane police cells, pending their first appearance in the local Magistrates' Court.
They will be charged with public violence.
