Two women and a 5-year old child were injured, after gale force winds caused the collapse of a canopy at the corner of Govan Mbeki avenue and St Andrews street in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Stanley Jarvis says the injured were treated for cuts and broken bones.
He says various roofs have been blown off, and reports were also received that trees were uprooted.
Jarvis says a part of Cape Road near Five Ways is closed to traffic, after part of an apartment building's roof was blown off.
Nobody was injured, but residents were ecavuated as a precaustionary measure.
