Police K9 unit members in Kariega recovered stolen goods in the past week valued at R8.5 million rand.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, this, included a cargo of catalytic converters worth R8 million.
He says a truck transporting the cargo was hijacked near the VWSA plant on the 26th of last month, but the vehicle was found abandoned and the goods were later recovered from a property on Amanzi Road.
Beetge says in the second matter, police recovered household goods worth R500 000 that were also stolen from a hijacked truck.
He says no arrests were made yet, but the investigations are ongoing.
Police in Nelson Mandela Bay have now urged businesses in the Metro to put extra security measures in place when transporting valued items,
No arrests have been made.
