Hankey SAPS Detectives are investigating a case of murder after the body of a young boy was found near an irrigation canal in Hankey on Tuesday.
Thirteen year old Maxwell Plaatjies had been stabbed 27 times in a killing which has shocked the local community.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei, says the investigation is in its early stages and that several seasoned detectives are working on the case.
He says no arrests have been made but they expect to make a breakthrough soon.
