Ten days after walking out of the quarantine facility at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, the whereabouts of 73-year-old John Doch, remains a mystery.
Port Elizabeth police said on Monday that they were urgently trying to trace him after CCTV footage showed him leaving the stadium on 5 June just before 1 pm.
“Doch is from Graaf Reinet and was at the isolation facility with two other family members. He suffers from dementia,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.
She said at the time he was wearing a black hooded jacket, a blue scarf, black pants and black takkies.
“He has grey hair and a grey moustache. He is about 65 kg’s and has brown eyes. He is not familiar with the area. He speaks isiXhosa and Afrikaans,” she added.
Naidu said members of the community are advised to take the necessary precautions relating to COVID19 “as Doch is positive with the virus.”
