Tributes are pouring in for one of South-Africa's most iconic Afrikaans authors who died due to complications of Covid-19.
The 97-year-old Elsa Joubert who is well known for her book "Die swerfjare van Poppie Nongena" died in Cape Town on Sunday.
Her groundbreaking novel told the story of the complex relationship between women of different races living under the Apartheid era.
With this work, she brought a very important political message to her audience.
Poppie was also recently adapted to a movie and received high praise for the story which still resonates with audiences today.
