The trial of the five people accused of killing two elderly Gqeberha women at the St Johns Stella Londt retirement home in Sundridge Park in 2019, is finally expected to get underway on 1 August.
The accused, which includes a former caregiver, appeared briefly in the Gqeberha High Court on Tuesday morning.
They allegedly conspired to rob and kill 87-year-old Rosemary Langton and 91-year-old Agnes Burns in October 2019.
While her four co-accused had their heads bowed while seated in the dock, accused number 1 Nomgebisi Slangveld, appeared poised, with a braided hairstyle, long purple nails, and light make-up.
She kept peering behind her at the gallery where some people known to her were seated.
Together with her four co-accused, namely Mkuseli Damaneti, Akhona Mneba, Luxolo Kruisjan, and Nyasha Manyange, face eight charges, including murder and robbery with aggravated circumstances. They remain in custody.
Two other men had earlier pleaded guilty and were given suspended sentences for being in possession of the deceased's cell phones.
