Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World confirmed toda that one of its tenants at the complex, Fisher’s Jewellers, had been robbed at about 6pm on Thursday evening.
The three gunmen removed a tray of Rolex watches from the store. Two women were on duty in the store at the time, one of whom was hurt during the robbery and has been taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment. She is in a stable condition.
Camera footage of the entire incident captured on the wide-coverage CCTV system at the Boardwalk has been handed over to the SAPS, who are investigating.
Boardwalk GM Clifford Ngakane said that the Boardwalk were giving their full co-operation to the SAPS, who had arrived on the scene very quickly. “While the robbery is a shock to all of us at the complex, we are more concerned with the lady who was hurt and will stay in touch with the hospital to keep track of her progress.”
