The case against local businessman Arnold Terblanche, who is accused of orchestrating his estranged wife Vicki’s murder, has seen yet another postponement in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court.
After a brief appearance on Tuesday, Terblanche’s case was postponed to the 10th of May after the State filed a notice of intention to oppose his bail application.
The notice signed by Senior State Advocate Marius Stander, who was not present for the proceedings, read that the 60-page document previously submitted before the court by the defence did not present new facts.
The defence had argued new facts in six affidavits submitted by people close to the Terblanche couple, including their domestic worker, Arnold Terblanche's previous wife, the deceased's former colleague and her nephew.
These largely painted Vicki as an alcoholic and drug addict and also alleged extra-marital affairs.
In his own affidavit, the accused, backed up by his previous wife, said he was not abusive by nature and had never in any way violated the deceased.
The latest postponement is to grant the State time to prepare its arguments.
In the meantime, 55-year-old Arnold Terblanche and his two co-accused will remain in prison.
The three are charged with the murder of 42-year-old Vicki Terblanche whose body was found in a shallow grave in Greenbushes last October.
